Teaching Philosophy

I believe that a student will not learn if they are not motivated and engaged, and one strong motivator for students is the relationship between the student and the teacher. I work hard to build a trusting and supportive relationship with every student I teach, so that they too can appreciate the fascinating insights into the natural world that science and math give me.

I have over 20 years of teaching and tutoring experience and a doctoral degree in Biophysics. I can work with students in Physics, Biology, Chemistry, and any level of Math. I feel that my great strength is to meet the individual student at the level they currently are, and encourage them further. I firmly believe that nothing is more important for success that the student's self-esteem. I have successfully worked with students with several learning issues, and am comfortable with the whole range that I have encountered.
